How To Troubleshoot Your Hue/LIFX Connection.

The steps below should get you going, but you can ALWAYS contact us directly: support@getonswitch.com.

SUPPORTED HARDWARE:

First: make sure you have smart bulbs that OnSwitch is designed to work with.

  • OnSwitch officially supports Philips Hue lights connected via their “Hue Bridge” (picture shown below.).

  • We have limited support for:

    • LIFX Lights. Our legacy support for LIFX still exists in the app but we do not officially support LIFX bulbs on our app at this time. If you have LIFX bulbs we will do our best to keep your bulbs working.

    • ZIGBEE compatible bulbs such as SYLVANIA LIGHTIFY and IKEA TRÅDFRI bulbs. If the bulb can pair with the Hue Bridge, it will likely show up in OnSwitch. However, while these bulbs paired with the bridge and there are often significant limitations. These bulbs may not work with many of OnSwitch’s features.

  • We do not support other hardware or Hue configurations this includes but is not limited to:

    • Hue Bluetooth connected lights.

    • Philips “Wiz” WiFi connected lights.

    • All other non-Zigbee smart bulbs.

SELF-HELP CONNECTION INSTRUCTIONS:

If OnSwitch can't seem to find your bulbs, here are some steps you can take to fix it. After each one, retry connecting and controlling your bulbs with OnSwitch.

  1. Make sure your phone/tablet and your Hue Bridge (or LIFX bulbs) are connected to the same WiFi network.

    • Really double-check it’s the same Wifi. You can be fooled by the Official Hue and LIFX apps which both on any Wifi or mobile network with internet access. OnSwitch requires a local WiFi connection.

  2. Philips Hue Bridge: make sure the 3 blue LED are lit (constant light, NOT blinking). See image below.

    • If no lights are lit, check that your Hue Bridge is plugged in and that is connected to your router to your hub and connected to your router with an ethernet cable.

    • If one of them is blinking, it's likely that your bridge is not connected to the internet.

  • If steps 1 & 2 do not resolve the issue, try clearing stored app data. This is done differently for iOS and Android devices

    • iOS: Delete the app from your iOS device and re-install from the AppStore.

    • Android: In Android Settings, find OnSwitch. Delete the app data. You do not have to delete the app.

  • Optional Advanced Step: Make sure your Hue Bridge and Bulbs are running the latest firmware.

    • For Philips Hue Use the official Philips Hue app for iOS or Android and install the bridge update if there is one. Go to the Settings Tab and look for an indicator.

    • For LIFX use their app and follow these instructions. Note: we no longer officially support LIFX but OnSwitch still connects and controls these bulbs, often with technical limitations.

If your issue still persists after trying the steps above, please contact us at support@getonswitch.com.
