This privacy policy covers OnSwtich App for iOS and Android platforms and our related website getonswitch.com.  This policy concerns how we collect and use 'Personally identifiable information' (PII) . PII, as used in US privacy law and information security, is information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person, or to identify an individual in context.

OnSwitch app and our website use this information in very limited ways.  Please read this policy carefully to get a clearer understanding of how exactly how. 

What personal information do we collect from the people that visit our blog, website or app?

We do not collect information from users during FREE use of the OnSwitch app.  If you purchase lighting effects within the app, we do receive your Google ID on Android related to your purchase.

When you post on our 'Vote for Effects' message board or contact customer support via our Info/Feedback tab in the app, we do receive your email and any name associated with that email.  Also: if you comment on any BLOG post on our website we may receive your information.

How do we use your information?

We use the information if you contact us for support and we send you a reply.  On Android we also use your user name to issue refunds, if you request one.

How do we protect app and website user information?

Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, all sensitive/credit information and transactions are processed through a gateway provider (e.g., Google or Apple) and are not stored or processed on our servers.

Similarly user names and email addresses we receive because of in app purchases are protected by Google and Apple security technology.  We do not store this information externally.  Email or full name information we receive due to a support request or refund request are protected by User Voice's security systems. User Voice is the service we use to host our support forum and support ticketing system.

Do we use 'cookies'?

We currently do not use cookies for tracking or storing any personal information.

Third-party disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include website hosting partners and other parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or serving our users, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release information when it's release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others' rights, property or safety.

However, we use non-personally identifiable app user and website visitor information to analyze trends and assist product development and marketing. 

Third-party links

We may include or offer third-party products or services in our app on our website. These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.

We may receive a referral fee from Amazon or other vendor, if you purchase a product on their site.

California Online Privacy Protection Act

CalOPPA is the first state law in the nation to require commercial websites and online services to post a privacy policy. Third-party behavioral tracking

We allow third-party behavioral tracking of aggregate information of app usage and website visits.  

COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)

When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under 13, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, the nation's consumer protection agency, enforces the COPPA Rule, which spells out what operators of websites and online services must do to protect children's privacy and safety online.

We do not specifically market to children under 13.

CAN SPAM Act

The CAN-SPAM Act is a law that sets the rules for commercial email, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to have emails stopped from being sent to them, and spells out tough penalties for violations.

We only your email address in order to: respond to inquiries, grant refunds and/or other requests or questions.

To be in accordance with CANSPAM we agree to the following:

• NOT use false or misleading subjects or email addresses.

• Identify the message as an advertisement in some reasonable way.

• Include the physical address of our business or site headquarters.

• Monitor third-party email marketing services for compliance, if one is used.

• Honor opt-out/unsubscribe requests quickly.

• Allow users to unsubscribe by using the link at the bottom of each email.
